OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
Under the direct supervision of the National Professional Officer for Communication and Information, the Intern will carry out the following tasks:
Assist in the coordination and implementation of programme and project activities and provide administrative support;
Assist with drafting, translating and proofreading of project documents and reports.
Assist in coordination and organization of project-related events and meetings;
Assist with designing, drafting and proofreading public outreach materials and news items for the UNESCO website and social media platforms;

PROFILE

Responsibilities:

Purpose
The Generalist Delegate contributesto the organization and implementation of one or several ICRC projects andactivities depending on the context. It represents an entry role into theinstitution where incumbents familiarize themselves with the carrying out ofthe ICRC mission in the field.
ICRC Delegates are deployed all overthe world to contribute to the organization’s mandate of ensuring humanitarianprotection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and other situations ofviolence.
Their responsibilities varyaccording to the duty station and may evolve rapidly based on operational needson the ground.
Under the management’s supervision,they are responsible for the following activities (non-exhaustive list;depending on the context, there might be a specific focus on detention):
Accountability & responsibility
Contribute to the analysis of the general situation and humanitarian needs on the ground, including security aspects;
Contribute to the planning and implementation of ICRC activities in the area under their responsibility in close coordination and cooperation with relevant ICRC departments (Economic Security, Health, Water and Habitation…);
Carry out field missions and follow-up on protection related information (e.g. protection of civilian population, restoring family links, missing people files);
Develop and maintain a network of relevant interlocutors within its area of responsibility and the population concerned (local authorities, armed and security forces, non-governmental organizations);
Prepare, participate in and follow-up on visits to places of detention; ensure that detainees are being treated with dignity and humanity (e.g. conditions of detention, treatment and respect for judicial guarantees);
Conduct interviews with detainees and follow-up on protection related information (e.g. restoring family links, follow up of individual sensitive cases);
Take part in expanding or consolidating the delegation's contacts and networks with detention stakeholders;
Produce timely and concise internal reporting, with due care to the respect of confidentiality;
Represent and promote the ICRC mandate and activities;
Together with the Cooperation department, maintain good network and partnership with Red Cross/Red Crescent branches and Movement partners present in the area of responsibility;
Together with the Communication Department, organize and carry out ICRC operational communication sessions to target audiences.
Essential minimum requirements
Bachelor degree level or equivalent

International exposure
Fluent in English or French
Driving license for manual transmission vehicles and ability to drive independently in unfamiliar terrain
