A wonderful example of old-world craftsmanship, the design of this Louis the XV instrument is truly timeless. The piano was owned by one owner who took meticulous care of it. It has benefitted from the gentle California environment, not near the beach or the desert.
It is completely original with exception to having a brand new set of fresh key tops. The original matching bench is included with the piano and is complemented by a custom needlepoint bench cover.
This piano has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out as well as having received a standard routine service which included gentle hammer reshaping, and minor adjustments to the action bringing the piano to a high-performance level. The piano has seen very little use so the action is in similar condition as when it left the Steinway factory in 1960.
The piano has a nice even tone that is crisp in the mid-range with a robust low end. The treble is singing and clear. The action is quick as well as light and is comfortable to play. This is fine heirloom instrument that with care, will bring much music for generations to come.

This is a Mason & Hamlin grand piano from the sought after period before Mason & Hamlin was bought by the Aeolian Piano Company. This piano has been rebuilt at some point in the past. It has just been refurbished to a high level with new key bushings, front rail bushings and action repairs and regulation.
The soundboard and bridges are structurally sound and the piano has the fat, blending sound that the best Mason & Hamlins from this period are famous for.
The case has also been refinished with the classic, American, sprayed lacquer finish which is hand-rubbed for a sheen.
The piano is not hard to play, yet has a substantial feel. Playing this instrument feels and sounds like many semi-concert grand pianos. Mason & Hamlin employs a design which allows for more soundboard area than other pianos of their size. They are also structurally one of the most robust designs of any piano.
Finding a Mason & Hamlin from the classic years of production in this kind of condition can be a challenge. If you appreciate the sound and manufacturing of the great American pianos, this may be the ultimate piano for you.
