The Bluthner 6 represents the ideal German piano with an appropriate size and scale design that can accommodate a broad range of repertoire. It’s everything you would expect from a great Bluthner with a crisp depth of sound and rich, resonating tone. The case is stunning with a detailed, high-gloss brown mahogany finish.

This piano has a wonderful set of original keytops (not plastic) and has had very little use in its lifetime, is all original and in great condition. It’s a fine example of a mechanically unaltered Bluthner from this era. Our technicians have gone through the piano performing delicate balancing of the voicing and regulation for stellar performance. The action is quick and responsive without any stiffness. Bluthners have a distinctive tone and action that separates them from other European pianos. This piano has Bluthner’s patented Aliquot stringing which has a 4th string in the treble register instead of the usual 3 strings. The 4th string is raised slightly above the other 3 strings and sympathetically vibrates creating a richness and additional sustain of tone in the melody register other pianos lack. 

A tremendous amount of European piano repertoire from Brahms to Shostakovich were inspired by the unique and diverse tonal qualities of the Bluthner piano which has a warm, richness not found in other European pianos which tend to have a more crystalline quality. This is a modern piano in every sense with the capability of handling a wide range of period styles of music.
