This book mixes both the use of fiction and photography to tell this story. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children tells the story of an “ordinary” boy named Jacob who finds a remote island filled with strange kids through pictures. Kids who are blessed (and cursed) with strange conditions at birth and are taken care of under the watchful eye of Miss Peregrine. I completely recommend this book because of the way most of the pictures look convincing and the way this book was created from the idea of pictures.

Suzannne Collins’ last book of the excellent series, the Hunger Games, is a wonderfully crafted story in the genre of dystopian young adult fiction novel about Katniss Everdeen, who agrees to unify the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical Capitol which hosts the Hunger Games.
This book I would recommend very highly to many people who not only love the excellent written series by Suzanne Collins, but also to those who enjoy the genre of dystopian young adult fiction novels. The story is about the aftermath of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark's victory in the 74th Hunger Games from the first novel.

For those who are enthusiastic about learning more and enjoying a rather thrilling story as well simultaneously, I would like to present to you “Chasing Lincoln’s Killer”, a nonfiction story told by the accounts of rare archival material, obscure trail manuscripts, and with interviews of relatives of the conspirators and the manhunters. “Chasing Lincoln’s Killer” is a fascinating and thrilling story of the 12-day manhunt and capture of John Wilkes Booth through the streets of Washington D.C, the swamps of Maryland, and in the forests of Virginia which as such, I would recommend to everyone.

In Cold Blood is a true crime story that explores the real murder case of a Kansas family that occurred in 1959. The novel experiments with dual perspectives, as the reader sees the story from both the perspectives of the family and the murderers. Despite being a nonfiction novel, it is written with just as much “action” as a fictional crime novel. Rather than simply retelling the case in clinical, straightforward terms, Capote brings the story to life and follows the crime as if it were unfolding in front of you. I recommend the novel for its detailed account of one of the most interesting criminal cases ever told. It is a captivating story from the very beginning, when the plan was conceived, to the very end, when the criminals are sentenced. Additionally, the novel explores several themes about the nature of immorality, specifically whether nature versus nurture can be blamed for the criminal tendencies of individuals. Overall, the novel is packed full of details, not just of the case but also of widely applicable themes and philosophies to ponder as you read.
Joy Luck Club follows a group of four Chinese immigrant mothers who gather weekly to play mahjong together. Each mother has a daughter who has been born and raised in American culture, causing a perceived disconnect in the way of thinking between the mother and daughter pairs. The novel is structured to focus on each mother’s individual story and, later on, each daughter’s contrasting perspective. I recommend this novel for its ability to portray several contrasting perspectives that are also seen to align together in various ways. The mothers and daughters learn the importance of informing one another of their experiences and heritage in order to learn from each other.
Hamlet, one of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies, follows a story of revenge and a loss of morality. The story begins with a visit from a ghost of the recently murdered King of Denmark, who instructs his son, Prince Hamlet, to avenge his murder. Thus, Hamlet begins an intricate plan to fake a mental descent into madness, hoping to gain a confession from the King's murderer. Unfortunately, Hamlet's plan goes awry as he truly begins to spiral into madness. Similar to the endings of all of Shakespeare’s tragedies, a final, bloody battle concludes the play as Hamlet’s father is finally avenged. I recommend the play for its important stance as a piece of classic literature and its simply thrilling tale of deceit and vengeance.
Voltaire, a French writer, and philosopher was best known for his novel Candide. The novel begins when the protagonist, Candide, is evicted from the home of his uncle. Being on his own for the first time, Candide explores new opportunities and unintentionally finds himself getting in trouble over and over again. His youth and naivety are the cause of many adventures, highlighting Voltaire’s own philosophy that believing “everything happens for a reason” can be a naive perspective on the world. I recommend this novel not only for its intriguing plot but also for its exposure to different philosophies.
