Does marketing research follow a scientific method of discovery?
Taking it even further, is it possible to equate marketing research with
research in other scientific fields? Are the methodologies utilized in a
similar means between Applied Research and Scientific Research studies? It’s
commercially agreeable that investing in applied research can be a sound
business decision, hence the increased number of marketing research firms
expanding globally.
The answer to this question is Yes - applied Research is a problem-oriented / problem-solving methodology that is very similar to any given scientific study. Looking at the matter in reverse – with scientific study there is always a hypothesis to be answered. Thus, Applied Research can be classified as another form of scientific research.
