The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles aims to promote bilateral relations between the Republic of Korea and the United States of America, to ensure safety and civil rights of Korean citizens, and to provide various consular services to both Korean citizens and local residents.
The Consulate's jurisdiction extends to Southern California, State of Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico. There are approximately 660,000 Koreans and Korean Americans residing in the area; they are actively participating in various fields of profession and contributing to the development of their local communities.
Los Angeles, where the Consulate is located, and regions adjacent to it play vital role in ROK-US economic cooperation. The Port of Los Angeles, the Port of Long Beach and LAX are the gateways for more than one-third of ROK-US trading cargos; ROK is Los Angeles's third largest and California's sixth largest trading partner. During 2016-2017 fiscal year, Korean investments to the Los Angeles and its vicinity recorded 470 million dollars; this excludes the investment on Wilshire Grand Center(a total of one billion dollars) by a Korean company which newly opened last year. Around 300,000 Koreans are visiting Los Angeles every year.
