Welcome to the website for the Buddhist Church of Oakland (BCO). Founded in 1901, BCO welcomes everyone to listen to and share in the teachings of the Jodo Shinshu (Shin Buddhist) tradition.

While continuing to honor the Japanese heritage of our founders, today, BCO is a multicultural and multigenerational community with services and educational programs in English for adults and children.
